What is Maximum Oxygen Uptake (VO₂ Max)?
VO₂ Max refers to the maximum amount of oxygen your body can intake and utilise per minute during exercise, measured in mL/(kg·min). Endurance activities rely on oxygen. The more oxygen your body can use, the more efficiently it burns carbohydrates or fats to generate energy. A higher VO₂ Max generally indicates better endurance capacity. VO₂ Max is a strong indicator of aerobic fitness. Individuals with higher VO₂ Max values usually have greater potential in endurance sports.
How to obtain your VO₂ Max data: Wear your smartwatch and start an outdoor or indoor running activity (outdoor running is recommended), or outdoor cycling. Ensure the workout is of moderate or higher intensity, keeping your heart rate elevated for about 15 minutes. After completing the session, your VO₂ Max result will be calculated automatically. If you do not see a result, it may mean the exercise intensity was not high enough to meet the algorithm’s requirements. You can try again with a more intense session.
Note: VO₂ Max ratings are based on your age, gender, and measured value. To ensure accuracy, please make sure your personal information is correctly filled out in the app. -
What is the "Custom Running Coach"?
Custom Running Coach is a personalised training program designed to systematically improve your aerobic fitness and running performance. For example, if you choose a 10K training plan and set a target finish time, the system will create a guided plan tailored to help you steadily improve and reach your goal.
Please note: This doesn't mean you'll run 10 kilometers in every session. Instead, the plan includes a variety of targeted workouts structured around your goal, gradually building your running ability over time. -
What is running performance prediction?
Running Performance Prediction uses your running history, VO₂ max, and other key fitness metrics to comprehensively assess your current endurance level and estimate finish times for specific running distances. This feature provides a clearer picture of your potential and helps guide your training more effectively.
Predicted finish times will adjust dynamically based on improvements or declines in your fitness level.
Requirements:
1. You must have a consistent running history and valid VO₂ max data for prediction results to be generated.
2. Predictions for half marathon and full marathon require a higher level of aerobic fitness. If your VO₂ max is available but no prediction is shown for these distances, it may indicate that your current aerobic capacity isn't yet sufficient to complete the race. Continued improvement in VO₂ max is recommended to unlock full predictions.
This feature is designed to help you understand your performance level and plan your running goals more scientifically -
What is "Enhanced sleep tracking"?
When Enhanced sleep tracking is enabled, the watch uses continuous heart rate monitoring during sleep to more accurately detect and analyse your sleep stages. This provides a more detailed and precise breakdown of your sleep quality.
Please note: Enabling this feature will significantly reduce the device’s battery life. -
What are Active Calories and Total Calories?
Calories are categorised into Active Calories and Total Calories:
Active Calories
Active Calories refer to the energy your body burns through physical activities such as exercise, walking, and daily movement. This value excludes the calories burned while at rest (basal metabolic rate).
The smartwatch calculates Active Calories by monitoring activity intensity, steps, heart rate, and more—helping you understand how much energy is used during your daily activities.
Tracking Active Calories allows you to better evaluate your workout effectiveness, set health goals, and maintain a more active lifestyle. Whether your goal is weight loss, fitness maintenance, or overall health improvement, Active Calories provide valuable insights.
Total Calories
Total Calories represent the total energy expenditure in a day, combining both Active Calories and Resting Calories.
Active Calories include calories burned during workouts (like running or cycling) as well as low-intensity daily activities recorded while wearing the watch—even if you haven’t formally exercised.
Resting Calories are the calories your body burns while at rest, based on your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR). BMR is estimated using your age, height, weight, and gender.
This comprehensive calorie tracking helps you make informed decisions about nutrition and activity. -
What is Recovery Time?
Recovery Time indicates how long your body needs to fully recover before engaging in your next high-intensity workout.
It appears immediately after each training session and counts down in real time, helping you evaluate when you’re ready for your next intense exercise. If you begin a new workout before full recovery, the remaining recovery time will accumulate accordingly.
This feature helps you better plan your training schedule and avoid overtraining. -
What is Training Effect?
Training Effect is divided into two categories: aerobic and anaerobic.
Aerobic Training Effect:
This evaluates the improvement of cardiovascular endurance by analysing the amount of oxygen consumed during exercise. It helps you understand how your workout positively impacts your overall aerobic fitness and stamina.
Anaerobic Training Effect:
This reflects improvements in muscle strength and explosive power. It assesses how the intensity of your workout contributes to the development of your anaerobic capacity.
By tracking both, you can better understand how each workout contributes to different aspects of your fitness and adjust your training plans accordingly. -
What is Training Load?
Training Load is a metric that measures the intensity of your workouts and reflects your physical fitness level. It is calculated based on the amount of time you spend in different personalised heart rate zones during a single workout, combined with fixed weighting factors, resulting in a comprehensive score that represents your overall exercise effort.
Specifically, Training Load helps track changes in your fitness under the same workout conditions. A decreasing Training Load indicates improved efficiency – your body completes the same exercise with a lower heart rate, suggesting better recovery and adaptation. Conversely, an increasing Training Load may mean your body requires a higher heart rate to perform the same workout, which could be due to fatigue or poor recovery.
By continuously monitoring your Training Load, you can better adjust workout intensity, avoid overtraining or undertraining, and improve your overall fitness more effectively. -
What is the Active Score?
Active Score, is a health metric that quantifies physical activity using heart rate data. It is calculated from your heart's response to exercise over a rolling 7-day period. This metric helps you gauge the intensity and effectiveness of your workouts. Aim for an Active Score of 100 each week to maintain good health.
Importantly, any amount of physical activity is better than none. Incremental increases in physical activity, even at low intensities, can contribute to health improvements by reducing sedentary time.
How is it calculated?
The Active Score is tailored to individual profiles, including factors like age, resting heart rate, maximum heart rate, and recent exercise history over the last 7 days.
By performing physical activities while monitored by your smartwatch, you accumulate Active scores. Activities of higher intensity will generate more scores in less time, enhancing your score more efficiently.
As your Active Score grows, acquiring additional points becomes progressively challenging.
Why is it calculated on a 7-day basis?
The Active Score offers a snapshot of your physical activity impact over a rolling 7-day period. This flexible system allows you to spread your activity throughout the week without the pressure of achieving a high level of exercise every single day. Accumulating scores is possible anytime within this period, although we recommend engaging in physical activities 2-3 times a week to optimise both your physical and mental well-being. -
